Ingredients

  • Gin1.5 oz
  • Dry Vermouth1.5 oz
  • Maraschino Liqueur0.25 oz
  • Orange Bitters2 dashes
  • Absinthe1 rinse
  • Lemon Peel1 twist
  • Maraschino Cherry1 piece

Method

  1. Rinse coupe with absinthe and discard excess
  2. Add gin, dry vermouth, maraschino, and orange bitters to mixing glass with ice
  3. Stir until cold
  4. Strain into absinthe-rinsed coupe
  5. Garnish with lemon peel and cherry

  • The absinthe rinse is critical — it's not window dressing.
  • Use Old Tom gin (Hayman's) for historical accuracy; London Dry works fine.
