Ingredients

  • Gin1.5 oz
  • Cherry Heering0.5 oz
  • Bénédictine0.25 oz
  • Cointreau0.25 oz
  • Pineapple Juice4 oz
  • Fresh Lime Juice0.5 oz
  • Grenadine0.25 oz
  • Angostura Bitters1 dash
  • Soda Water1 oz
  • Pineapple Wedge1 piece
  • Maraschino Cherry1 piece

Method

  1. Add all ingredients except soda to shaker with ice
  2. Shake hard
  3. Strain into hurricane glass filled with crushed ice
  4. Top with soda water
  5. Garnish with pineapple wedge and cherry

Pro Tips

  • Raffles' original used a specific cherry brandy (Cherry Heering) — modern versions substitute badly.
  • Pineapple juice should be fresh-juiced and strained — canned is sweet-sludge.
  • A proper Sling is long and fruit-topped; keep it light on the rum and heavy on the citrus.
