Ingredients
- Vanilla Vodka2 oz
- Pineapple Juice2 oz
- Grenadine0.25 oz
- Pineapple Wedge1 piece
- Cocktail Cherry1 piece
Method
- Prep: Chill vodka and pineapple juice
- Glassware: Chill a coupe
- Build: Combine 2 oz vanilla vodka and 2 oz pineapple juice in shaker
- Shake: Add ice and shake very hard — the froth is essential
- Strain: Strain into the chilled coupe
- Finish: Slowly pour 0.25 oz grenadine down the inside of the glass so it sinks to the bottom
- Garnish: Pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry on the rim
Pro Tips
- Shake pineapple juice hard — the pale-yellow froth is what sells the 'cake' look
- Pour the grenadine slowly along the wall of the glass so it settles cleanly
- Smirnoff Vanilla or Absolut Vanilia both work; house-infused vanilla vodka is better
