From Modern American Drinks by George J. Kappeler (1900). Original recipe: "Fill mixing-glass half-full fine ice, three dashes gum-syrup, five dashes pepsin bitters, one jigger whiskey. Mix, strain into cocktail-glass, add piece twisted lemon-peel."

Ingredients
- Simple Syrup3 dashes
- pepsin bitters5 dashes
- whiskey2 oz
Method
- Add simple syrup, pepsin bitters, and whiskey to mixing glass with ice
- Stir until well chilled
- Double strain into chilled coupe glass
