Irish Car Bomb

Contemporary · Whiskey · Pint glass + shot glass

A half pint of Guinness with a dropped shot of Irish whiskey and Baileys. Controversial name aside, it's a St Paddy's Day tradition that drinks like chocolate milk.

Ingredients

  • Guinness Stout8 oz
  • Irish Whiskey0.5 oz
  • Baileys Irish Cream0.5 oz

Method

  1. Prep: Half-fill pint glass with Guinness and let settle
  2. Shot: Layer 0.5 oz Baileys and 0.5 oz Irish whiskey in shot glass
  3. Serve: Drop shot into Guinness and drink immediately before it curdles

Pro Tips

  • Drink fast — the Baileys will curdle if it sits too long
  • Fresh Guinness with a proper pour tastes much better
  • Note that the drink's name is considered offensive to some; many bars call it a 'Dublin Drop' instead
