Ingredients
- Bourbon Whiskey2 oz
- Honey0.75 oz
- Fresh Lemon Juice0.5 oz
- Hot Water4 oz
- Lemon Wheel1 piece
- Whole Cloves4 pieces
- Cinnamon Stick1 piece
Method
- Warm a heatproof mug with boiling water, then empty
- Add whiskey, honey, and lemon juice
- Top with fresh hot water and stir until honey dissolves
- Garnish with a clove-studded lemon wheel and cinnamon stick
Pro Tips
- Dissolve the honey into a splash of hot water FIRST before adding whiskey — it won't dissolve in cold alcohol.
- Stud the lemon wheel with cloves hours ahead; the clove oils perfume the wheel and the drink.
- Mid-shelf bourbon or blended Scotch both work; don't waste a single malt here — the hot water blunts subtle notes.
