Original recipe: "One tablespoonful fine sugar dissolved in a little water in mixing-glass, fill half-full fine ice, add the juice of half a lemon, one jigger Walker Canadian whiskey; shake well, strain into fancy glass, top off with a little claret, trim with fruit."

- Stir until well chilled
- Strain into chilled rocks glass
