Jerry Thomas's signature flaming cocktail and the most theatrical drink in bartending history. The Professor would ignite the whiskey and pass it between two mugs, creating a spectacular arc of blue flame.

Ingredients
- Scotch Whiskey2 oz
- Boiling Water2 oz
- Sugar1 tsp
- Lemon Peel1 twist
Method
- Warm two silver mugs with hot water
- In one mug, combine 2 oz Scotch whiskey and 2 oz boiling water
- Add 1 teaspoon sugar and stir to dissolve
- CAREFULLY ignite the mixture
- While flaming, pour the mixture between the two mugs in a continuous stream
- Repeat this 4-5 times, creating an arc of flame
- Serve in the mug with a lemon twist
- SAFETY: Practice with cold liquid first, have fire extinguisher ready
