Original recipe: "Put a few lumps of ice into a glass pitcher, add two jiggers of sherry wine, one jigger maraschino, one tablespoonful fine sugar, one bottle claret, one slice of cucumber-rind, a few sprigs of borage, and a cold bottle of plain soda. Mix well and serve."
