From Modern American Drinks by George J. Kappeler (1900). Original recipe: "Dissolve a lump of cut-loaf sugar in a hot-drink glass half-full of boiling water, add one jigger of brandy; mix, add a piece of lemon peel, grate a little nutmeg on top."

Method
- Add brandy to mixing glass with ice
- Stir until well chilled
- Strain into chilled rocks glass
